Quiz - Who loves climbing trees? - Sock Monkeys and Cats - OR, a silly Sock Monkey dressed to be a kitty!!

Sleeper/Cat Costume Pattern

"Sockie" was delighted when we surprised her with her very own Kitty Cat Costume. Her favorite activity is climbing trees, (unlike Ms. Monkey, who says the only good tree is one that grows bananas), and she loves climbing in her kitty outfit and "confusing" all her feathered friends on April Fools Day. Of course she means no harm to them, and they quickly got accustomed to her being up there amongst them and simply carried on with their chirping and collecting nesting materials. We kept a close eye on Sockie but it took her most of the day
to tire of her climbing actities. She came down exhausted but intact and is having her supper as I write this blog.

Puppy gets a Kitty

I can't tell you all how excited little B.S. was to get his new friend, the very mischievious "Kiki" kitten. The two immediately formed an alliance and decided that terrorizing the house was the first order of business. B.S. showed Kiki every nook and cranny indoors and when they found Miss Monkey's winter toboggan, it was "game on". By the time I arrived, upon hearing a louder-than-normal commotion, the floors had already sustained numerous "skid marks" and I was completely taken aback. How could they have created this much mischief in such a short time? However, Kiki was rightly apologetic and twined herself adoringly between my legs while I tidied the mess. Afterwards, I redirected them both to a more acceptable game of chase the motorized mouse, and life returned to normal (momentarily). I'm sure this isn't the last of their "monkey business", but I have asked Miss Monkey to keep an eye on them in future.....life is never the same when you add socosimians and their pets to your home!!!!

College Lecture

Miss Monkey sat in recently on a College lecture on Evolution. Of course, she has a few ideas on that subject and felt that the professor was more or less an academic dullard. Surely everyone is aware of the common linkage between simians and the multitude of recently enlightened humans. Needless to say, she feels that she (and all her fellow socosimians) have contributed in no small way to the evolution, i.e. betterment, of the human race, notwithstanding our sometimes neglectful and often unappreciative behaviour. I have, of course, debated with Miss Monkey that there are many of us only too ready to deal with these issues by working towards mass acknowledgement of the hugely important role that socosimians have played in our everyday lives.

Jethro on the Farm

Jethro and longtime friend, Miss M., have been busy on the farm today. Cleaning the chicken coop is a regular chore which they often accomplish together. Sharing a job certainly lessens the load and invariably involves a lot of good-natured teasing. Taking a short break at the moment, both are enjoying a "moment in the sun". Jethro is wearing his new overalls and neckerchief, which is the newest clothing pattern we have designed. With its relaxed fit and multiple pockets, Jethro is comfortably work-ready all day long. At the end of the day he can just slip it off at the front door and relax in a well deserved bath to ease his work weary stuffing.

The Callers

Needless to say, Miss Monkey has had numerous callers lately.
I believe she has been utilizing one of the popular socosimian
dating sites and it seems she is getting quite a bit of attention. It's
odd how you can add certain seemingly benign sentiments to these sites
(for example....."a swinger" or "independent", "extremely flexible" or "well padded") and the boys seem to magically appear. These fellows also
seem to come from a vast aray of backgrounds, and we are currently having
to "interview" several to determine their true intentions. We have
definitely cut Miss M. off the Internet at present until we can get this
situation under control.

Our good friend Gordo dropped by yesterday.
He always wants to play outside (which Miss
Monkey is not always in favor of). He lives
a bit on the wild side and likes nothing
better than "hanging out". The day was
sunny and mild so we did our entertaining
outside and Miss M. tried her best to keep
up with Gordo. It may look easy, but it
truly isn't!!! Today, Miss M. is resting
comfortably and I have rubbed her down with
linament to ease away her tired stuffing.

Miss M's newest ensemble has arrived.

The pinafore and bloomers have arrived (off the sewing machine) and
Miss M. was ecstatic over the fit, as well as the multi-purpose
nature of the ensemble. She is very particular and likes to feel
"appropriate" at all times. I am hesitant to share what she confided
(in strictest confidence) to me, but - she shudders, to this day,
remembing her earlier days "naked"!

Miss Monkey is the star of her own calendar this year.
It is, of course, a personal account of her daily life as a
socosimian residing in the interior of British Columbia.
Although living a rather simple life with family and friends,
Miss Monkey has developed a bit of an attitude (unfortunately
she was an "only" Sock Monkey for a while and became just a
little, shall we say, obsessed with herself). However, as
other's arrived and life got a little more "interesting" she
has risen to the occasion and settled in nicely with a rather
full house! Quite honestly, the activities around here are
simply monkey business!!! Watch for a new calendar in 2011.
